Hank
Williams (1923 –1953) has become an icon of country music and Rock
'n' Roll, and one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century.
A leading exponent of the Honky Tonk style, he had numerous hit records,
and his charismatic performances and succinct compositions increased his
fame. His songbook is one of the backbones of country music, and several
are pop standards as well.
On New Year's Eve 1952, Hank Williams was preparing to play a New Year's Day show in Canton, Ohio, but he was unable to fly due to weather problems. He was in the process of trying to get his career back on track after suffering from a reputation as a heavy drinker and womanizer throughout the music industry. He hired a chauffeur and, before leaving Knoxville, Tennessee, injected himself with Vitamin B12 and morphine, to get prepared for the coming concert. He died in route, at age 29.

success on the Pop charts. Since her death at the age of 30 in a 1963 plane
crash during the height of her fame, she has been considered one of the
most influential and successful female vocalists of the 20th Century. Her
life and career has been the subject of numerous books, movies, documentaries,
